Spring continues to tease.

Had a quick tidy up in garden, boxes thrown away, watering of veg, refilling bird feeders that sort of thing. And as I stopped by dad's ashes a ladybird sat on his head. Loved that. Feeling in no way idiotic or sentimental I had a few words...Told him all was ok with mum, her foot bandage now deposited in the bin and her legs glossed by lots of E45. I don't know who was most happy, him or me. Me probably after all I'm on the front line.

Anyway after all that I did some washing, strenuous work on account of being machineless, but like a 1930's London housewife I tossed some sheets in hot water then swung them on the line to dry. A beautiful drying day by the way.

Mum popped out to see it suggesting I take it to the laundry...Ashingdon don't do laundrys dear I said, everyone and his uncle has a washing machine, it's only dinosaurettes like me who applaud the Victorian way of doing things.
Nutter.

So a natter with mum in the kitchen over tea and homemade bread and diabetic jam (not bad) She rarely comes up with anything life enhancing or amusing but as old invalids go she's not a bad thing to have in-house.

As the birds sang we exchanged menu ideas for the rest of this week and beyond..... Yes of course we did...I informed her that I buy I cook and she agreed. End of. One thing I will not do is be told what to do with chops. Any chops. So for today it's pork, lamb later in the week.

Lots of things to look forward to:

Good film this afternoon. Based on true case. The Staircase Murders.

Sainsbury's tomorrow. Must take a handbag to give to my favourite cashier, Veronica, she's a bag lady too!
and
England v. Holland.
I'm smiling just thinking about it :)
Food info in tomorrow's post!

Cheerio!

Saturday's Don't Come Any Better Than This

Prove me wrong Frank
Oh My Lord...Me at 16...Tizer and a crush on Tom the greengrocer

England v. Spain. ITV. 4:45 p.m. I'm sure I'll keel over one day at the sound of our national anthem and the sight of our brave boys all lined up ready for action. Armada and Drake and all that. Racist? Moi? Si. But only in the football arena.
Spaghetti with Pukka Bolognaise sauce. Garlic rolls. And a Becks beer. 1. Small.
And a Frankie Cocozza free X Factor. Bleating about drugs and girls has booted the kid out.. Rock Star? In your big head dear.

I'm fizzing with excitement and it's not even midday.

Clothes are laying about willy nilly, unwashed dishes are mountainous and the birds are demanding feeding...But all I can think about is my England and what a major-cock up Capello has made as regards the John Terry thing.
Saddling Lacklustre Lampard with the Captaincy is like putting me in charge of the World Bank:) I'd have a go but at the end of the day John, I'd fail and we'd all be broke.

So after penning this I'll whizz around getting things in order:
Food for today
Food for tomorrow
and
General Pottering

The drain needs doing.

Come On England:)

Post Match Analysis with Glo

England 1 The Others 1

I'm not upset.
Because I've been here before.
We've been here before.
Green's clumsy hands costing us the game.
But he did serve up a corker of a save so I sort of forgive him.

To bed now in my red and white cap, where I will think about next Friday when we meet Les Algériens.

I can't bear this John:(

Felicity

England flags on my car, long boho feather earrings kissing my throat and twenty litres of compost.
Wednesdays are marvellous aren't they, but not as much as Tuesdays.

Dawdled down to the shops feeling glowful, the light breeze ruffling my hair and flags and feathers and I adored every kiss from Aeolus.
Sometimes I'm so silly that I dare not let my thoughts influence my visage, otherwise the good Essex folk hereabouts will think I've been at the Maynards Wine Gums. Whereas reality is much more potent.
Yesterday was a spiffing day. Isn't it lovely when all is sublime?

And what about today?
Today I will tend my plants, make food and write a poem.

Ta ta!

Pre-Work Thoughts

On this grim Monday morning here is what I'm looking forward to:

Making 18 Fairy cakes this afternoon. Iced and decorated with Jelly sweets.
London on Thursday. Got a bag of bits for the old dears.
England v. Croatia 9/9/09. Time for me to be encased in shorts.

I'm just wondering when I'll be donning my poet's hat. Not today obviously.

Conservative M.P.s are coming in for some stick, apparently one of them had his Wisteria de-clamped from his giant chimney. Courtesy of the British tax payer.
Other things we're paying for:
Mattresses.
Porn videos.
Bath plugs.
What I want to know is if we, the public, are dolling out dosh for this sort of nonsense, what are politicians actually spending their salaries on?

Back to me and my unbelievably dull life
Where are my gloves? The wind is whipping up.
Where can I get a plastic garden chair? It might brighten up later.
When is my body going to do something dirty other than cleaning? All work and no play makes Glo go gaga.

Engerland, Engerland

I forgot that England were playing Germany tonight. Ooops!
Monty is wearing his red and white helmet and guzzling Port.
I am wearing my England T-shirt and sipping Tea.
