Wagner was booed.
Just because the public have kept him in the show.
I suppose the thinking behind the boos is....He's keeping out someone with real talent...like er....
First and foremost The X Factor is an entertainment show and folks like Wagner are entertaining...sort of. He also fills up press space. It's called Show Biz! It's banal nonsense and there's nothing wrong with a little of that occasionally.
Talking of nonsense.
I don't dig Aiden Grimshaw at all.
Chezza looked odd tonight. Unsure what's cheesing her off but her sneers and faux miserableness is hacking me off. Grow up.
And Mary Byrne is a one trick pony, sure she gets the money notes but there's no soul, well not from where I'm sitting. She's a bigger girl who belts...that's it.
Talking of bigger girls I must have had a weeks calorie intake in one day today, what with the lamb lunch and toffee cream sauce, then to pig out completely I had a Chinese:)
We need excesses sometimes, my weak day is Sunday:( That's when the choc rolls and the toffees disappear.
But come tomorrow it's back to crackers and water.
We had two trick or treaters tonight, both with mums in tow I gave them nuclear candies and a couple of orange fairy cakes. Their pleasure and excitement was a sight to behold. Dressed in green and black with pointy hats and floaty frightful dresses in scarlet and tattered black lace .....they looked like innocents on a day trip to hell.
I wish I could have had demons like the two I bribed tonight:(
I'd better stop now otherwise this will become a sad post and today has been a happy day, don't ruin it Ang.
So off to bed this voluptuous eater goes...

Shredding cabbage whilst gyrating to 'Proud Mary' is not advisable...Bits on the floor and my socks at half mast. Lovely:)
OMG... I'm fitter than I thought. My God I can boogie. Felt fantastic as I threw back my head...Yummy cooky.
I am ecstatic over this cd, has all my fav Tina tunes...Was a giveaway in the Sunday Hell. So since 9 I've been getting myself into a heated state over such classics as What's Love Got To Do with It, Goldeneye, Simply The Best and, of course, Proud Mary. What a glistening rock chic she is. Love you Tina.
When I'd peppered the parsnips I was transported back to my youthful days by Nutbush City Limits...Sounded just as cool and just as hot.
Pud alert...Pud alert....Have disowned the pudding in favour of the multi-appled crumble (Bramley and Cox) but will most definitely make the toffee cream sauce. Could be one of those kitchen moments when all sense is lost and manners fly out the window.
Will update later...

What Time Is It
Who cares?
For the past thirty minutes I've been throwing myself around the bedroom listening to Tina Turner!
Too many good tracks to pick a fav...But I nearly died rollicking to Proud Mary. xxxxx
Now toast and Private Dancer!

The X Factor: My Favs.
Cher. Fabulous. Gorgeous girl. Great song. Loved it. Preferred this Cher to the Cher with rubber legs.
Wagner. A new man with his pony-tailed hair and red tears. Can't sing but with his Brazilian good looks...who cares. A little light relief from all the perfection.
One Direction. Had to be nailed to floor otherwise I'd have made a fool of myself over the sweet boys. The perfect boy band. Oodles of everything for both young girls and grubby older ones...
Loved Dannii's hair. Always out-glams Chezza. Doesn't have dead insects for lashes. Bronzed up yes, but a woman's woman.
Adored, as always, Simon's campness. Blacked out hair with a really gross parting but so likeable in a stiff sort of way.
Can't stand Cheryl. Insincere as always. Can't comment without reading her notes. Pretty without a doubt but that's all. Sorry hun.
Would love to discuss boys with Louis. Am digging the quiff. Such an old queen. Love you Louis. x
Dermot. The loose Man. Moves like a Thunderbird puppet. Slippery, loose and hips on strings. Swing my way why don't you. Love to tug ya wires. Irish? Not a prob.
Heard Slim Harpo on 'Sounds of the 60's' on Radio 2 singing 'Baby Scratch My Back'. Melted to it. So you Tubed it and been playing it like forever:) So hot.

Had to get outside so sped to Hockley>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Cream knee length cardigan with pockets. £2. Ideal for just about everything. Always loved chunky knits. Once bought a big rich navy blue cardi with brass buttons in a Kensington charity shop, wore it till the buttons dulled.
Grey Striped Tesco's Man Pyjamas in 'Large'. £1.25. I spoil Mr H terribly.
Two plates. One oval in blue and white. Very old Burslem. Is now home to apples and lemons. The other round, brown and oatmeal with 'British Bread and Cheese Plate' written round the rim. Also decorated with loaves of all kinds, particularly like the Cob pic.
New Stuff........
Bird seed.
Key Ring with big red rubber face and yellow shaggy hair. 29p. Factory shop.
Mania-inducing multi-coloured MSG'd sweets for if the Trick or Treaters turn up. I loathe Halloween. 50p.
A 2011 pocket diary with small black pen. Brown embellished with pure bronze flowers and beautiful squiggles of a William Morris nature. 89p.
Cooking Tonight:
Chilli Con Carne.
Last two inches of Chardonnay.
Last bag of Wotsits 20:00 hrs.

London
I had a seriously colourful day today.
Here goes...
From the bottom..
Green shoes.
Purple tights.
Plum velvet skirt.
Black t-shirt.
Mauve cardigan.
Tan coat.
Brown/green/yellow handbag
Blue gloves.
Fawn eye shadow.
'Temptress Pink' lipstick.
Got a headache just by looking in the mirror:)
More reasons for headache~
Mum's legs looked like bolsters.
Dad got in a spat with the workmen next door.
Noisy people on train both going and returning.
My hair went nuclear meringue.
Oh God I need to sleep.
And will sleep alone on account of Mr H. working overnight. Therefore after dabbing my cheeks with sunflower oil will have both eyes peeping over the duvet looking out for men in balaclavas:)

Masterchef. The Professionals
I'm rooting for David.
Baggy eyed, wild haired and shakes like a jelly.
A true artist.
Last night's prog was lavish as the two remaining contestants cooked for their lives at The Ledbury restaurant in swanky Notting Hill. Swanky? I was a kid growing up rounds about stinky Ledbury Road, no posh eateries then matey.
have to dash now more on this later I think guv'....

A note before solo tea
As some hash browns heated through I took a stroll outside and thought how mollifying darkness can be.
What was vibrant green and sparkly was now blackened green and matte and what was crisp and sharp was now moist with raw edges shaved off.
A heavy-eyed peace falls when daylight goes away and as I pulled the stuffed bin street-wards I wanted to skate to the moon in my slippers.

A heavy-eyed peace falls when daylight goes away and as I pulled the stuffed bin street-wards I wanted to skate to the moon in my slippers.
Dear Diary
Wet today.
This afternoon I must attend the bin.
I'm looking well on it.
Later this afternoon after another cup of tea, I'll finish trimming the overgrown shrubs by the front door, made a start yesterday and already it's looking crisper and airier. Have overloaded the recycle bin though, so will need to smash down the contents so the bin police can't get me.
Ho hum.
All the spring bulbs are now planted and I now wait for the apple tree, if it comes while we have this wet spell, the ground will be easier to dig. If Graham doesn't do it, then I will. Nothing has given me this much excitement since.... I waved my fists at a motorbiker who knocked my wing mirror as he weaved through waiting traffic by the Blue Boar pub.
The old chap alongside me in the blue Fiesta screamed at him because bad man had knocked his wing mirror almost to the ground...and one of his large sons leapt out of dad's car to remonstrate with the stationary motorbiker. Voices were raised and as the rain sheeted down I prayed for the lights to change to green...They remained red for ever. And still the lads argued. Green and he sped off, meanwhile me and Mr Fiesta man sympathised with each other. His face was wild cherry red.
I tootled off to the next set of lights at Priory Corner and as I approached I saw what can only be decribed as a 'prison deserving' manoeuvre by motorbike man...He continued to weave then suddenly shot out of his lane into oncoming traffic...just to get ahead of car drivers like me and Fiesta dad...
I made some soup yesterday and exceptionally good it was too, didn't follow a recipe, God if I need to follow a recipe to make vegetavle soup then I really am going bonkers.
Just cobbled togther various veggies, stock, bits of ham, garlic and a few noodles and whackedy doody a cauldron of delicious suop.
I also made 12 Irish Soda Rolls to go with it, I ate two and froze the rest,
Mr H. took some of the soup to work today so at 7 tonight he can nuke it, help keep out the cold.
The jumper I bought yesterday ( charity shop) is too big :) So will wear it like a mini-dress, belted and necklaced. Also gone mad on thin scarves, the brown and cream one I bought yesterday (25p) made me look like a flapper.Tied it around my head with a flopping bow. Loved it.
What else before I go garden...Purchased for £1 five pairs of white socks, size 'childrens'.
Small feet=large brain:)

Bird Notes Before University Challenge...
~The birds are eyeing their new terracotta 'dinner plate' but have yet to land on it, I've found that birds of all persuasions take a while to get used to anything new.
I will of course keep watching and looking for signs of disturbance, tonight, just before I get in bed, I'll place a cover over it in case it pours down. There's not much worse than dealing with mucky moist seeds come the morning.
~This afternoon, after I'd had an egg, I watched as a one bossy pigeon browbeat fellow pigeons on the ground level wooden plate. He booted with his marble head any bird which dared to peck before him, his insistence on being chief pecker really annoyed me and puzzled me at the same time. It wasn't as if there wasn't enough to go round, blast it all, I spend £2 a week on seeds. But this hectoring lump, with his speedy head and fast moving feet roughed up all-comers.
But the other birds, to their credit, and with hunger no doubt fuelling their persistence, continued to grab what they could. I hate tyrants.
~On Friday I saw a Goldfinch and stared
spellbound on account of never having seen one before.
I knew it was a Goldfinch because there's a simple likeness of one on an old toffee tin of mine.
~In the garage I have, in various lengths, shelves of melamine laying on the floor so will, some time this week, do something of an aviarian nature with them. Wonder if they'd like that?
A kind of adventure playground for flapping brats:)

Ten minutes ago...
I should have been washing my small items.
I should have been be ironing out creases.
I should have been on my hands and knees attending lino stains...
But I was outside turning upside down a giant plastic faux terracotta plant pot trying to turn it into an exotic bird feeder. And I think I've done it. A few minor adjustments still need to be made but I think it's going to be ok...
:)
Possibly being cooked tonight:

Sleep: A dream poem
Violet flames hanging with pearls of rust and ginger
journey me to a slashed joie de vivre-less world
and when asleep, float, like a spider with legs torn out, through papered streets aflame
and where dead on a stone, or so I believe
I capture rancid cream in a sieve
And assisting tall men in brown hats and gloveless hands
I ride cock-a-hoop in a carriage
a carriage bizarre made of wood, frills and amber
and gun blasted with holes so large I can fit, like a wet finger in my mouth, my white fist all the way through.
My brain is squeezed, my senses defiled, I shout out your name for peace
when scenes change and when characters shrink
I mellow to the jolly lullaby sound
of a junior earthquake riding by.
Goodnight x

I've Got It Bad...

As the beef roasted I dug...
On my knees with trowel in hand I put to bed 25 tulips....and Loved it!
I'm really getting hooked on gardening and will, come tomorrow, attack with all my might, the out of control Rosemary by the front door. She's been a real bitch.
There is something saintly and therapeutic about tending the soil, disturbing worms and working up a sweat, my only hope is that I have enough money to keep planting and enough 'give' in my joints to keep it up.
You know how it is, you discover something which helps put the zingo back ito your life and so will fight like the clappers to hold onto it. And I will indeed fight like the clappers to hold onto my new pals. Worms. Halved or whole makes no difference to me.
Am so looking forward to the apple tree arriving that I've dug its home already, will follow the instructions, probably moving my lips as I read, then possibly with help from Graham, if he can stop talking for a mo, re-home my new baby in wet earth by the shorn Conifer. Hope we get along, me and the tree, I know one thing and that is that I'll be the Mother of all Mothers, out there if a sudden squally shower falls, out there checking to see if it's still standing and out there watching for signs of rampant adolescence, this tender wiry thing, if I have anything to do with it, will grow into adulthood producing from its sexual organs apples of the sweetest nature.
As I write this my heart is giving me what for, could be excitement over the imminent arrival of a newcomer or the beef or the inch of Chardonnay.
Pics above are reminders of what's important.
Rainbows
Pizzas
Left over Chilli and 10p noodles
Now I must dance to the beef's tune.....

A Big Post
Last night's Chilli sent me barmy with delight, it was scrummy!
But not being a piggy I saved some for today's post-shop lunch and so after buying another pair of secondhand boots and retro skirt I boiled some noodles to go with the Chilli.
OMG!
So hottily lush was the combination I had to get a napkin...
Then, with 'The Great Escape' playing in the background I duffed up some pizza dough for tonight. Food is fast becoming the love of my life.
Talking of love..Last night we watched 'The First Men In The Moon' (H.G. Wells) (Recorded on BBC4) . Starred Rory Kinear and Mark Gatiss (?) It was delightful.
Kinear took my breath away, not only with his portrayal of Bedford but by his likeness to dad, the ever so funny Roy.
Gattis playing Cavore was barking and as he sipped his alien mushroom soup I wondered how long it'd be before these two would get together again. Loved it.
Also have another H.G. Wells prog to watch, this time with the unbelievably talented Michael Sheen playing Wells. Yummy.
Talking of Wells, I watched, on Film 4, Rod Taylor in The Time Machine, his wonderment at time and his love of clocks had me listening for the tick tock of my two mantel clocks. Can you imagine anything more sublime than living in an English village with a handsome inventor and watching as dozens and dozens of singing clocks ching and sing on the hour every hour...:)
Astral man just astral xxx
P.S. Bought today.
Black calf length leather boots. 'Next' £3
Brown calf length skirt with wild stitching on the outside so it looks as though I'm wearing the inside on the outside. Also has a dazzling band of orange sequins just above the hem and small squares of tartan patches here and there. £3
Two slim 'wine' glasses or flutes. With pink frosted petals enveloping the bottom. Not a great wine Conossor but do get in a fizzing tizz over delicate icy glass. 60p for 2

Ok I'm guessing Rooney has landed a million a month.
What will he do with it?
Probably end up like poor dopey Gazza... only not as loved.
Just had a tasty egg sandwich with ketchup while waiting for Mr H. to come back. Day off work but still the man has things to do...he needs a holiday, preferably alone and without a phone.
We all need 'me time'. But reliable nice Mr H. never gets any.
And I'm boiling with rage.
Will now go outside to stamp some soil.
.....And when I see that blackbird again
I'll hold it to my breast
then when it fails to understand
I'll cast it to the clouds....
What will he do with it?

Spent the whole morning in a hat...
Digging over my patch.
in readiness for a little apple tree.
And the more I forked and bashed and bent and perspired the better and more self-sufficient I felt...Self- sufficient in apples? Yes in around 2015:)
Good thing I'm blessed with patience...
All the little bits of knowledge and wisdom I've accrued over the past 15 years are finally coming to fruition (sorry)
I now know a little more about gardening, thanks to mishaps, chats and having a go. But my wisdom though, has come at an awful great price! Managing to avoid work outside has really got me nowhere, all I see when I take a stroll to the bins are a load of missed opportunities. But something has lit a fire under my England cap and I'm now all ablaze.
But hold on a tick....Maybe I'm being a little hard on myself, I haven't always been a lady-at-home- sort, sitting watching thrillers while painting my awful nails blood red, I have occasionally braved the great outdoors, planting loads and loads of shrubs and things of that ilk, but, and this is the sad part, I never see it through...I think that by planting a £2:99 bush that's it the gardening is done. I conveniently forget that weeds need killing and pruning shears are named for a reason.
But what I can't castigate myself over is my love of Gnomes.
Even when decapitated my love refuses to die, so stuck on a branch the bloodless skulls hang:)
I'm beginning to think that all this hoo hah with gentle giant Graham and my absolute insistence on winning 'Garden of the Year', I'm becoming quite fond of the dirty outdoors.
Have planted loads of bulbs of all colours so.... come Spring, my small back garden and my large front will look like a tin of coloured crayons are rolling rolling by.
Cooking tonight:
Chilli Con Carne
Rice
A bowl of Tortilla chips to dip into the Chilli.

Rice
A bowl of Tortilla chips to dip into the Chilli.

...Just seen St. Stephen Fry yamming about how much he lurves Wagner..... Always knew he was a closet X Factor lubber...
Am struggling to deal with Rooney's mental breakdown. What's up with him? Leaving Man U and leaving Sir Alex looking stunned...yeah right....
I think it all stems from his row with Colleen. Bless. And his abysmal part in England's World Cup failure.
Gotta go...Man City are playing some foreigners.
Wonder if the Mr Rooney is munching a meat pie in the stands...
Love all this!

.....The thought of the tea pot kept me going.
After I laid various bulbs in the rockery I went out front... this time not to cut but to plant some daffs, even digging out a small space under the bay window. In this space I planted something I can't spell, they are red and dangly, at any rate I dug them a good home.
I can't wait to hear what Gray has to say...I don't do 'measuring' or 'preparation' or even know quite exactly what I'm doing out there, but when I get the urge I devour it.
No sheets of paper or checking online, just an idea and that idea was to put some flowers in front of the bay window. This new bed is a little raggedy but considering it was dug with a hand tool AND I was on my knees for like forever, it ain't half mad mate.
Then after drinking in some warmish air I kind of pruned a rag bag rose bush, I say kind of, because I don't know how or where to cut. But the yellow rose bush looks tidier. Didn't even attempt the jungle by the front door, will leave that to Gray, he knows best and has better tools than I have. After all I wouldn't expect him to know how to make a beef pudding. Each his own, each his own.
I digress.
After I bedded the daffs etc I made a move on tidying the browning debris which shows no sign of disappearing! But I got a little in the recycle bin so I was happy...ish.
Whilst gardening, I listened to a play on R4 about a little Russian boy who was adopted by a group of dogs. Loved it. I could see the child and the dogs and heard the yelps and felt the fear. No pictures to look at, no screen to dissolve in front of, just the power of my imagination and a collection of stimulating words. Can't remember the title or writer but does it really matter, what matters is she kept me listening.
I wrote a little something earlier today, as usual it was a sweet verse about love on the battlefield of life. Has no relevance to me or my situation, just a collection, a bundle, of words which ran down my chest and then all over the old keyboard.
I might from now on, do more of that, post bundles of words which are not poems or prose or even have any meaning, just sentences which swill around my brain and need spewing out:)
Am so looking forward to the weekend...lots of good food being cooked, a possible trip to the seaside, not just to wax about the frothing ocean.....;) but to count out how many £1 things are in my basket.
Really must keep my eyes open for some kind of whacko cheapo funno fencing...I feel it'd add a little body to the newly born flower beds.
(Graham, by the way, was pleased with last weeks efforts.)
So on my weekend travels it'll be a mixture of yummy food (Burger King and homemade delicacies) and joyously appreciated spending (at least £5.)
Being executed tonight:
A Toad in its hole.
Splendid!

Up with the lark. 5:15. Horrendous:(
Down with the cat. 8:15. Stupendous:)
Porridge overdose. Gluey creamy mix with golden syrup top. Cat approved.
Running on the spot. For my heart's sake. 3 mins only. Heart attack imminent if longer.
Clothes for a day outside hanging tidily. Layers the key word. Will look roly- polyish but still cool.
Feet need doing. Possible problem with third toe on right foot. Tips a bit red. Throbbed last night after Mastermind. Excessive usage.
Brain needs dismantling/punching/soothing. Fearing nervous collapse will embark on a diet of Wotsits.
Update>>>>>>>No Mastermind last night.....University Challenge>>>>>>Brain gone awol>>>
Have just made steak puds, cherry trifles>>>>>>Sun still out hoping it stays for the afternoon>>>>>>>a hole for the on order Apple tree might be dug today but not by me>>>>>>>>>Have one dvd eye on Shackleton>>>>>> possibly the barmiest bravest explorer ever>>>>>>>

Its so an affair
All done on the housework front so took up my tools and went outside. Messed around in the Rockery disturbing not a bird. Then feeling as if my heart was on the moon I made a cup of cocoa and wrote this in my gilet.
It doesn't mean a thing
Oh, you say you luv me
in shades of adolescence:(
"and when" you ask "can I have you again?"
and bed me on the floor
I say (Oh god)
I have such lives to lead
and you are just a roaming part
but don't you dare disrespect me
with frequent promises untrue
You know
we met upon a wire
and balance riskily thereon
so don't you rock my boat my luv:)
for if you ere and if we fall
you die a lost man's death:(
Caught in the net of inter dreams xxx
we chat and cam and hide
from partners (zombies) :(
eked out smiles:(
and unfulfilled lives:(

It's all about numbers...

12 pigeons, 2 blue tits and an assembly of sparrows.
That is what accompanied me today as I half-watched Roger Moore and Richard Burton fight off hundreds of Simbas in the Wild Geese.
I can't imagine making 18 fairy cakes, 1 chicken pie and an 8 inch lemon cake alone. Before the raw goodies went ovenward I halted for a few moments and supped a cuppa, and, whilst enjoying the mid-morning brew, my eyes fell upon the flappers outside.
3 grey pigeons hustling for sunflower seeds on the bird table paid no attention to the earth bound sparrows who sprang and pinged from one crust to the next, their jaunty firework jig a joy.
Meanwhile on the far side of the garden, hanging from a foot of thick branch were two blue tits going about their survival most seriously. The birds clamped to the block of seeds poked their beaks through the wire mesh of the holder and, without manners or thought, jabbed and pricked their early earthly lunch.
A few more pigeons were cock-a-hoop under the Japanese Maple, their intense concentration on scooping up seeds of every description was a lesson in single mindedness to a slovenly sort like me.
By now my cup was drained and so I left the show, albeit reluctantly.
I always quieten down whilst gazing at the little bravehearts and have now, since entering my middle years, begun to wonder...
Can we love birds?
In fact, is it possible to have a real attachment to anything that is unattainable and flea bitten?

After the curry came the X Factor...
Disappointed with Cher Lloyd, her legs are beginning to aggravate me. Quirky overload.
Listened, that's all, to Dublin Mary. Belter, but no Bassey. Tesco's though is now one colleague short. No way will the wannabee diva ask customers about 'cashback?'
Trayc Cohen. Fan flipping tastic. Was engaged by her dress. Loved it. Gimme gimme. Well done girl.
Was elevated to a higher plane by the heavenly chords from Matt Cardle. Sublime.
Belle Amie. Ghastly group, saving grace, the short red haired girl. My eyes were on her.
Adored Katie Waissel, an unconventional beauty, reminding me of Liz Frazer in her younger days. Some of Katie's notes were so on the money, I felt them.
Paige Richardson. Lovely boy, but so are many others. Will grow old smiling and singing.
Rebecca Ferguson made me feel a little unwell, she had turned from a cool black sister to a dark and sinister member of a Triad gang. Drop the scraped back hair honey.
One Direction can come in my direction. A fabulous new addition to the world of pop. The little blond one is so sweet I want to adopt him. A new mega group has arrived x
John Adeleye. Better when serious. But forgettable and that's a shame.
Diva Fever. Twats but I was on the floor with them. A duo for Butlins I'm certain.
Wagner is on my Must- Have list. A man of so many sweaty talents I'm sure.
Being cooked today:
Another bird.
Stuffing of course.
Another load of carrots.
Another bowl of peas.
Potato Boulangere to add some class.
Rice pudding made with 100% Fat Milk:)
Gardening Alert>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ordered an Apple Tree>>>>>>>>>Cox's>>>>>>>>>Delivery date>>>>>>November>>>>>>>>>Will grow to around 12 ft>>>>>>>>>>>Will need another small table to stand on because>>>>>>>>>Current one outside by the pink tree is for me to stand on get to a branch where a hanging feeder is hanging>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>:)

God, I only did a bit of gardening...
....Being an interior designer, i.e. playing around with drawing room knick-knacks I thought I'd do some exterior designing. So with flask in hand and transistor radio on the windowsill I dug a little more...
But I was never alone for long...
Brian my non-stop workaholic neighbour popped along.
" Ha ha" said he "You're doing well there Angela"
Please go away I thought I don't want an audience it's bad enough being watched by the Kevin the cat, how he balances on those sloping tiles over the way beats me. But anyway, Bustling Brian had his little joke and limped back indoors.
Meanwhile I listened to the afternoon play on R4, I didn't get all of it on account of being out of earshot most of the time and up to my knees in dirt. But I was feeling ok and that was the whole point of venturing outside, I'm not an natural outside kind of gal but I've been told that doing some green is great for combating the blues. True.
After about 30 mins the trench thing was looking more and more like a trench, and mounds of earth mixed with twigs and stones and shreds of grass added to the authenticity of being an amateur gardener.
I was enjoying myself.
But there's a flip side to that coin, my hands especially my right hand was beginning to blister, the two pairs of gardening gloves not protecting me at all. I studied my right hand in the fading light and felt really rather proud. Here was I, quite middle-aged and almost round the twist, digging for all my worth. Digging not only for daffs but for my sanity.
The play ended and lo and behold the next programme was....Gardener's Question Time. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I've never ever listened to it on account of fearing I'd turn into a rich skeleton who goes on cruises, but I needn't have worried, it was entertaining and funny in a boringly smug kinds way.
Then I heard heavy footsteps...it was the 30 something daughter of 70 something Brian, she had cake in hand and was now leaving ma and pa. She opened her car door.
"Hi ya" she Essexed.
Big London smile from me.
"Rather be jumping into my old jalopy than poking bulbs" I twittered
Laugh? The poor girl nearly choked on her muffin.
One two three four and more bulbs went in all carefully spaced to begin with, then as with all my fab ideas, it tailed off into mayhem:) I suddenly stopped mid poke...Tulips I thought, they'd look sweet and red roundabouts here. So ripping over another bag I pulled out the beautifully burnished coppery bulbs and buried them alive.
I was so empathetic with their plight. Gracious stunners laid low till the sun shines again...
By now the coffee had gone and a good job too, I looked like a harlot leaning spent against the red cracked windowsill.

Ella, Daniel Craig and my limp wrists...
Just popped in from the garden for a 10p noodle break.
Feeling like the pits I decided, after watching the early morning news, to go outside and dig. And what joy it turned out to be.
Dressed like an English country lady on acid, I stood firm on my front lawn, then attacked.
First to receive treatment were the minuscule leftovers of Graham's magnificent choppings, so with bent back I gathered....
Then as the muddy turf became clearer I thought about beds. Raised ones at that. So being 8st and without fear or sense I dug, with a small handy shovel no longer than a foot, a trench like thing from the pillar to the middle of the wall.
On my journey along the wall I discovered a cemetery of snails, slippery worms in darkest reds and tiny vicious weeds in every shade of green. So out came the dazzling weeds, but left to slumber to dust, the empty snail shells, the worms tutted at being dislodged from their mucky moist habitat, but much respect to them for soldiering on, despite one or two being sliced in half.
I apologised saying it hurt me almost as much as it hurt them.
Then suddenly out of the greyness of a quiet road came Ella the Jack Russell. She stretched her poor mother's arms to such an extent that Mrs Old Lady broke the silence with "Oh she's very friendly..." Ten minutes and a few cuddles and rubs later Ella, the rescue dog and Mrs Old lady skated on, probably round the block and up the road to the post office.
I felt utterly countrified. And utterly mortified that an artist like me can be mistaken for an ordinary person who does gardening and tickles dogs bellies.
They went. And I needed and wanted to carry on. So carry on I did.
A rough wind made me look even worse than when I started, my silly children's wellington boots poking out from under my long brown flowered skirt and a stained pink gilet hiding a stained grey jumper. Very chic and defo not the ensemble to meet a Daniel Craig lookey likey.
He, that's DC, roared to a stop and leapt like a super hero from his white van...Towering above me he said. "Got something for you".
I bit my tongue, I was not in the mood for double entendres especially looking so bloody ghastly so I smiled and said "Oh yes"
He whizzed open his side door and picked up a really heavy looking box saying "I'll need you to sign for it"
Battery. It was the battery Mr H. ordered. I know nothing about batteries all I do know is that he left it on the doorstep by the white ceramic cat and wanted my signature.
I dashed orf something unreadable and he went. But not without a tooty hooty.
By now I was almost panting so I dug a bit more, picked up a bit more and told the earth "I'll be back later"...
Now is later....
P.S. As I'm taking this gardening very seriously I shall take a flask of coffee outside with me.

Tootled to the shops.
Tootled back.
Wearing a waistcoat.
Cooking tonight amidst scenes of Chilean jubilation.
Spaghetti with garlic and herb cheese, bacon, mushroom and onion.
Sweetcorn.
Hot parsley and garlic bread.
No pud on account of size 8 trousers.
This will not last.
Felt silly this afternoon so over indulged in fantasy. There was I laid on warm sand with a hairy muscle man oiling my calves. Then I woke up and found a run in my hosiery.
England were bad last night.
So sad to see a team of great multi-million pound players being humiliated by the boys from Montenegro.
I'm getting to the point where I don't believe we will ever win anything ever again. At least while we have a team of browned-off spoilt to high heaven numpties.
Talking of which I see there's another snooker tournament starting, ITV will show it but I'll be reluctant to watch because I loathe O'Sullivan.
Talking of tv, as I ate my fried eggs this lunchtime I watched a drama/documentary on the 'Yesterday' channel about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, What a treat that was. An iron ship called the Leviathan (?) later to be called 'The Great Eastern' set sail and floated. Only an Englishman could achieve that.
I love education dressed in stiff collars.
Have a little more to do today before I watch 'The Sentinel' with Michael Douglas...
Only hope he doesn't fidget.....:)

Jottings before dinner
An hour to go...
Until then I'll blog and braise and try to create.
~Braising tonight is sausage, vegetables and rice followed by footie and apple and almond cake.
~Must try to finish a poem I started earlier in the week, it's nothing to do with love or sadness but a homage to my gardener, the ever so gentle giant, Gray.
He popped in this afternoon you know, to talk about my bulbs.
Bless his mighty wounded heart.
~If the England boys don't thrash Montenegro I'll have worn my England t-shirt for nothing.
~Been thinking a lot about poetry lately especially my poetry and what it means to me. My first touch of poetry was given to me at the age of 10, by my dad of all people, he'd bought me a History of England type book and within its pages were chapters about Kings and the voting system and chapters on wars and the suffragette movement. Darted amongst this heavy stuff were poems by English poets and the very first one I read was 'The Lamb' by William Blake.
I have never looked back.
When I read these poems I didn't know whether they were good all I knew was they took me somewhere. And I loved the place.
~Mr H has just phoned saying he'll be very late, something to do with a rush job at work. Hope his train coincides with half time...

When I read these poems I didn't know whether they were good all I knew was they took me somewhere. And I loved the place.
~Mr H has just phoned saying he'll be very late, something to do with a rush job at work. Hope his train coincides with half time...
Too Busy...Too Busy

England v. Montenegro
Wembley
K.O. 20:00
Be there...
I won't.
But I will be wearing my 'new' 50p England t-shirt whilst watching it on ITV1.
Every time..every blasted time they play I write about it, the team selection, the manager and what'll happen if the other guys win.
Today I won't.
Not going to allow my weary self to become embroiled in the dark arts of What-Ifs and What-Abouts.
Not even going to publish a glamour pic of Capello, the grouchy dog.
And as for chattering on about the Captaincy...and who gets it....no way John...
I will, as all married women must do, align myself with the workaday slavery that is homemaking, there will be no time for prattling on about 4-4-2 and other positions, because I'll be up to my pink fleece in onions.

What A Glorious Day
So glorious in fact that I felt compelled to visit the charity shop wherein I bought a snazzy pair of trews, even snazzier waistcoat and large pink petal shaped sweetie dish.
I could be on the turn.
Later on I illegally parked so I could buy a quick stamp then snailed my way home to a phone call from the gardener. He, that's Gray, will come sometime this week to do something to something . Either out back or on my front.
Well. I can't wait. I'll drop everything I'm sure.
After a jammy sandwich and black coffee I made a chicken pie whilst watching 'The Dead Zone'. I love Christopher Walken's portrayal of tender rage-ridden Johnny.
He of course saves the world from maniacal Greg Stilson so perfectly played by Martin Sheen. What happiness comes from watching two great actors mouthing a beautifully simple script in stunning surroundings. The snow in this film adds a real chill.
I heard from my American BFF today. She was over the moon about loving. Her words, never rambling or messy, sang out like the dawn chorus.
Love makes sopranos of us all.

He stands hunched
shoulders pulled groundwards
by cumbersome lumbersome
weights
and though he pains
he's never lukewarm
For as his white fingers
spider the air
he's the maestro
in his unheated room
with waves of his steel baton
and blood in his old cheeks
he yields to the lost Master within
With shelves bent with dust
his audience are volumes
of books about scores for films
and squeezed between Cats and West Side Story are yellowed folders on Madam Butterfly
they stand face to back
with loving spines frayed
unable to boo or applaud
And before the curtain falls
and before he must fall into a workman's kind of sleep
he stands out-of-order under a low energy bulb
and surges before his books
and with half gone nails
and a millstone round his neck
he cuts a final great tune with his knife

Cheering from start to end...
Absolutely loved The X Factor.
Will watch it again tomorrow as I carve the chicken.
Especially loved:
One Direction. Cute or what? A skinny bundle of juveniles bringing out the Mother in me.
Cher Lloyd. Adorable or mental? Who cares?
Katie Waissel. In a helmet.
Wagner. Infectious for women over 55. Bet he's a hoot when plastered.
Treyc Cohen. Great lungs.
Matt Cardle. A cool calm sea surrounding a mad parrot filled island.
Am about to head for bed but I assure you I won't drop orf immediately. Coming down from an 'X' high takes time.
Big X to the boys.
Big sisterly hug to the girls.
Phone number to Wagner.

Two Pud Glo and Dr No
After the savoury came the sweet...
A savoury beef pud to growl up the heart and lungs of any Englishman, rich and heroic, glorious yet simple. Then. A dome of chocolate pud, soft and light, plump and dark and smothered in custard.
Could I be in danger of fatty overload?
Possibly.
But nothing on earth comes anywhere near two puddings in half an hour and Dr No.
Yes, as I finished the tender beef, reactor levels were critical and as James and Honey were being rescued from their fuel less speed boat our spoons were lost in yellow puddles.
Then the kettle went on..By itself.
Possible explanation being? The on-its-edge tea tray accidentally activated the 'on' switch thereby causing the waterless kettle to hiss and then turn itself off.
It's a laugh-a-minute in the GloHo BungHo:(
While my puds settle I'll surf, then lose myself in the gross chaos that is the X Factor:)

I'm a little grumpy but am still in a pinny making yet another blasted pudding.
Yesterday I took to London a steak and mushroom pud and told mum and dad to make sure they boil it forever and not to let the saucepan run dry and that a little gravy seeping from the top like volcanic magma is nothing to fret about.
I always get anxious when trying something new on them mainly because of dad being a bit of brat where food is concerned, if the cake/pie or pudding was horrible mum wouldn't say a word but dad most definitely would, this is what comes from being spoilt for fifty-five years...
So....I'll be in a lathered up panic all afternoon imagining dad's face if, after biting into the succulent pud, it fails to please...
(On a bitchier note I always get indigestion after eating at their house.)
Now this pud I've just finished putting together is another steak affair, only this time, I've made a single 38DD instead of two 36C's.
And so as I wait to get the call from Mr H, to go pick him up I'll ponder tonight's X Factor....What a load of utter drivel this is becoming but....I was sooooo shocked by the utter wickedness of Ms Cole, how she dumped Gamu is beyond me...And what a palaver too surrounding my fav gal, the barking mad Cher, and the Liz Frazer lookylikey, Ms Wassail.
It's a hoot!
While I wait for a phone call I'll also laugh and deride some job application forms.
You want me to do what and for how much and for how long?
I'd rather sell a kidney!
Oh I so much need a new handbag and full on intercourse!

Love and Lofts
While my tea brews a little post about a little pudding.
And a big man.
This afternoon I made a steak and mushroom pudding for mum and dad, along with 18 coffee iced fairy cakes.
The pudding is a 5 incher packed with braising steak, mushrooms, onion, stock and beer. I won't of course mention the beer to them on account of neither of them liking anything out of the ordinary. The fact that the boozey woozey evaporated during cooking leaving just a mellow richness will mean nothing to them. It's queer and that's all there is to it!
On a darker note...A man called at the bungalow this afternoon trying to sell me 'insulation' apparently this offer has the governments approval along with all the energy suppliers. I allowed him access so he could look into the loft then got annoyed because he started to badger me a little by saying I was 'making it hard for him', must have been my persistent questioning I suppose. So I told him to go. He worked for a company called Miller Pattinson.
I Googled them and they are a legit business but people have questioned their workmanship...
My tea must be brewed now and my crackers creaking under the weight of cheesy triangles.
So off to the drawing room I bound for an evening of guns-in-the-jungle.
I'm watching Predator....(again)

Just a zipped quick-as-lightning list on account of having loads to do....
Bought this morning and carried home on the no;7 bus...Don't ask about cars...
1. Tall shiny fat bellied vase in cream and nutmeg brown. Quite a narrow neck but is holding my artificial autumnal coloured flowers beautifully. An incredible bargain. £1.
2. Small round tin in palest yellow with pictures of birds on it. No idea what I'll put in it but it's a happy tin. 30p.
3, Something I've been looking for for ages...An 8 in square cake tin. Perfect for my gingercake, just perfect to gaze at too. Won't be putting it in the cupboard, it will balance precariously on a shelf. Cookware has a kind of magnificent beauty. 75p.
4. A four holed candlestick contraption in a sort of mock silver. Complete with tall slim orange candles. It currently rests on the mantelpiece alongside two clocks and another candle holder... candles bring out the mystic in me. £1
Now I must dash away for fuel intake in the form of eggs and hash browns, then cake making and general pottering. Priceless.
Toodle pip!

Being alone a lot has its advantages...
Take for example the sweet outside interest I just had with Kevin The Gay Cat.
There I was, dressed in awful night time attire lugging the bins out, when out of the blackness Kev appeared...
"You no good tyke" I said bending over to tap his small pointed white head.
Kev remained silent, his only communication being a quick roll on the drive.
I love cats!
So out with the bins went I and was duly followed back to my conservatory by the Wanderer.
We chilled on the step did Kevin and I, oft' times looking at the heavens.
"Mightily big those stars " I told him
His glassy eyes reflected the outside lamp, and his body, taut and lithe like a dancer's, stood princely and smooth, then suddenly for no reason, he darted across the glimmering wet grass like a happy young beast...
"Goodnight Kevin" I called
"Come and see me tomorrow..."

Quickie Post About Love
Just made a mad dash across the road to alert my neighbours about Kevin the gay cat whose been missing for few days................
They answered and I said very quickly...."Just seen Kevin, he walked up your side entrance"!
"Yes he's back and we should have told you, sorry". Said the weary looking lady.
.....................
There was no need for an apology, I know what cats can do, they pull your hair out, shred your sofas and tug at those old heart strings and then do and go exactly where they want.
Mrs Neighbour said she cried every night while Mr Neighbour went out searching.
I was so relieved to see Kevin because he's become a friend to Monty, and often pops over for a late night howl. I was also relieved because I adore Kevin, the sleek skinny stinker...
More later........

It's turning out to be a funny Tuesday.
Firstly I wasn't the least bit interested in Tory boy Michael Gove wittering on about fairness and equality....And how he was adopted and given the best education despite his mother working as a jewellers assistant and his dad being something in fish. You were lucky Gove. That's all.
Yawn.
I was however interested in a couple of the speakers. Both black, one English, the other American both barking out optimistic rhetoric regarding black youth. Catch them young was the main cry, get them keen er...by chucking them out of school for being disruptive. And don't allow them back in so they fast become heroes to other kids.
And the preaching went on amidst intermittent claps and hoorahs from the sleepy audience, camera honing in on one drowsy man. Lovely.
Then came Theresa May sticking up for police officers and sticking it to the loonies who diminish small crimes with the wimpish tag called an ASBO. All crime is bad. Whether it's rowdy behaviour on Saturday night or someone having their windows kicked in or an artist in council residence colouring the walls of his block of flats. All is crime according to Miss May. And she got a big round of applause for that...
Secondly I denied Graham access to my bungalow, texts asking if he could pop in to chat about my borders were swiftly dealt with. "No can do today Gray" I said. "Oh alright" he said. "Maybe tomorrow eh?"
Oh God...
Later...
Whilst lounging in a cesspit of self-absorption I thought about what skills I had for the work environment.
Came up with one. People like me.
Ideas:
TV presenter.
Cleaner.
Cooking today:
Nothing, Mr H is on lates.

Should be in bed but....
Have to comment on tonight's X Factor.
What a load of wonderful teary hokum.
Mothering tendencies towards '1 Direction'. Boyish Band. Gelled well and cute. Harry Styles the star.
Liked old fashioned soulster Rebecca Ferguson, 23. Have to look up occasionally though girlie.
Intrigued and amused by BatGirl Katie Waissel. Her false eyelashes are an unnecessary adornment. Pretty girl with good vocals, but please go au naturalle
Desperately in love with Cher Lloyd. 17 going on 45. Imaginative, weird looking and star written all over her lined forehead. Dose up on throat meds and maybe we'll see and hear her again. Love this girl. Have to wait till Sunday to find out whether she's in the final 12. Be a poorer show without her.
Shivered and welled up listening to the sinner/saint tones of Essex lad, Matt Cardle. A voice to move both men and women. Drop the hat and look at me. Sensational.
The rest were good but no-one took my fancy. Maybe over the next couple of months I'll fall in love again. But not with Storm Lee or the House Husband or the Foreign Bloke with long greying hair.... Oh dear! But :) :) :)
That's why I lOVE showbiz.
Made the most incredible curry tonight.
Chicken with apple, stock, tomato ketchup, sultanas, carrots, curry powder, lemon slices, bay leaf and brown sugar...Unusual and not the least bit authentic...and
Madhur Jaffrey would bake me in her Tandoor, but the taste...Sensational!
Now bed.

Thoughts
Keeping with love and food...
Played around with ideas today and came up with...
Cook one large cooking apple till mushy, add some sugar. Place in pudding basin and top with sponge mix laced with almond essence. Nuke for 3 and a half mins. Very similar to Eve's Pudding but without the stiff browness on top. Had sweet custard with it.
Been very quiet today, no tv or internetting just a deliberate mellowness. Thought a lot about herbs and solitude, William Blake and the terrifying size of the universe. Rain and how much better tea tastes when clouds burst. Birds and where they go when the storm arrives.
Heavyweight Monty fell asleep on my lap after licking porridge from my bowl. He didn't think about my numbing legs or how idiotically loved up I get when combing him, he did exactly what he wanted.......purred, dug in and stretched out, and in turn, giving me all the pleasure in the world without even knowing it.
That's how I like my males.
Mastermind is on soon with the awesome Humphrys, if I run true to form I should manage to get about 20 questions right.
Then 'Downfall' a film about the last days of Hitler. More 4 at 21:00
What a kaleidoscopic mix for a Friday.
Lovely.
