My Lucky Day

Oh My God! I screamed...

Just now I was pulling up weeds when, right by an old tree stump, I found, amongst the mighty weeds, the pearl ear-ring I'd lost LAST YEAR!!!!!
I can't believe it I just can't believe it!

It is surrounded in hardened soil, just has a tiny piece of gold showing but, and this is the sweetest bit, the WHOLE pearl is visible....Proud and defiant like oh God I don;t what it's like. All I know is this is my lucky day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In a mo I will very tenderly rinse it in a cup and hopefully hopefully it'll look as beautiful as ever.
I can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Little thoughts.......

I liked Kate's veil. Reminded me of the Queen Mother on her wedding day.

William I thought looked far away, another place maybe, thinking about his mum maybe.

Camilla's outfit was gorgeous. I noticed that Royals never wear anything too tight. Muffin tops? A phrase unknown...

Not even at the wedding of the year could Mrs Beckham smile. David was the epitome of cool. Matters not what he wears he always looks good. Bit like me.

Made hamburgers last night. Thick moist. A few chips, no salad. Utter comfort food. Then more comfort in ovoid form. Cadbury's Caramel Egg.

Watched again Britain's Got Talent but only for Edward Reid. Fell madly in love with him? Don't be an idiot. Lusted after him and recognize pained artistes when I see them. Works in the community. Handsome. Sockless with shiny shoes. The perfect man. So pleased he's through.

Horticulture: Cleaned bird bath. Talked to various trees. Will, this afternoon, if I have the glue, attach another thing to the kitchen windowsill so more birds can nose in as they peck out.

Today I'll be making Italian style chicken.
Olive oiled Chicken breasts, sliced courgettes, sliced tomatoes, wafer thin garlic, nuts of mozzarella and torn basil leaves baked in foil parcels.
Served with buttered peppered penne and garlic bread.
For sweet?
Tangerine jelly.

Tim The Artist

I knew Tim would win, felt it in my chicken bones...

Also saw it in the faces of Greg and John. From the moment he shone a light into their lives I knew, they knew, we all knew that he, Tim Anderson the young Wisconsin man was the main course man.

Tom, lovely handsome Tom also rocked some boats especially with his final stupendously English pig pieces dish, this plate of perfectly cooked pork bits blew the judges away, even I was lost for words. What a crackling he was.

Rosa, my lovely Italian girl cooked her big heart out with a starter of chocolate ravioli and an ender of passion fruit and stuff, all out of this world fare, especially the hare, but it was Tim's three burgers which set the kitchen alight, metaphorically of course.

I'm not one easily shocked but when he said he was making burgers for a starter I wondered....mostly about his sanity, but being the consummate keen- as- mustard- amateur he brought the judges tongues to a stand still, (when they weren't munching of course). I leant towards the tv as if being drawn into the world of this fabulously inventive cook, his menu was exhaustive, it was bonkers, it was a star's menu. It had Tim written all over it...........

He'd made bread and noodles and pastries and God knows what else and all within the allotted 3 hours, me wondered whether or not he'd make it, but as his canvas of food was set upon the white linen I knew he'd win the damn trophy. His food shone, nay blitzed, like a nucleared halo around the head of a drunken saint. Simply breathtaking. If this guy doesn't land a nice little job within a Michelin starred restaurant real soon.... I'll live on frozen pizzas for the next five years.

Never ever have I seen a cook so in love with his vocation............

When Greg and John did their dramatic..."And the winner is......" my heart was racing, rather like when I have too much of anything, and then, when HIS name was announced, I nearly cried not because I'm in love or insane but because I love seeing genius rewarded.

So well done you
Tim Anderson and good luck in your future......... as an Artist.............. Because my dear boy that's what you are. X

My chocolate meringue tartlets were ooohy gooey and not at all chewy!
They were blooming luvley......

Am in tartlet mode at the mo so Mr H. will be overwhelmed with tiny tarts:)

Now snooker........grrrrrr!

The Winner of MasterChef 2011 is...

From left to right.....Tim, Rosa and Tom

Loved last night's MasterChef.

I still can't figure out who'll be crowned toppo cooko.

Rosa, I thought, was starting to crack, Tom oozed coolness and Tim, well he was just Tim, mad but with his head on the right way!

Can barely wait for tonight's final final of the final and it seems a terrible shame that only one of these knock-out cooks can wear the shiny hat...My money, what there is of it, is on..........My head says Rosa, my heart Tim. Sorry Tom.
But whomsoever wins, they all win the end, because all are set to quit their day jobs in favour of kitchen careers and why not?

This year's MasterChef entertained me, taught me and thrilled me. Well done all.... from a lady who will, after penning this, make a dozen chocolate meringue tartlets, recipe coming from a 1960 cookbook. Doesn't matter a jot, what matters is creating either good simple or fabulous ornate fancies which when plated up will get ooohs and cors! That's what it's all about.

A Lady's Green Fingered Morning...

Yesterday after our messing around in paddocks with horses, we went to buy some bird seed and came away with 33 ltrs of compost, a trowel and the sweetest tiniest strawberry plant:)

So this morning, after obeying the birds orders, I set about playing with my plant...

Not knowing much about anything green I did what I always do and followed my instinct...
Having not a pot to plant it in I scavenged around the garden and garage and found a plastic multi-coloured 1960's shopping open weave basket:)
So half filling it with new dirt I envisaged clouds of 'Cambridge' strawberries hanging like rubies...
Obviously I was mad keen to get on with it so dropped all other plans and got on with it.

Easing the tender youngster out of its red Homebase pot I gently snuggled it in the dirt, talking all the time to it. After some watering I went outside and sat the basket next to the Apple tree. Aaaah I thought, and I meant it. I get so much mad pleasure out of doing simple things well, but as usual I couldn't stop there. So that's when the £2:97 picket fence made an entrance.
I didn't fuss or think just stuck the three pieces of wood around the apple tree and strawberry plant. Then I stood and looked at it.
Then I cam in and looked through the conservatory windows at it. Then left my tea to look at it.

Other horticultural news....
The recently sewn parsley is born, tiny bits of green above the soil...
Have raked over the rose bush by the front door in readiness for the sewing of Poppies.
Fed all the rose bushes out front with fingers crossed...
The big brown pot by the bay window is winking at me, so might grow something in it, herbs probably.
Hung an amber coloured glass window ornament on a tree. Will look good when the sun catches it.
A very old giant rose decorated teapot with damaged lid sits by a toad.
The pine coffee table under the badly cut conifers looks daft but with bare pale legs on it under an afternoon sun it ain't half bad...
Masses to do in the rockery. Not a great lover of Alpine plants and it shows.
Tulips are tall, red and proud. Very elegant, like a gracious lady in a sleek evening frock.
Have opened an olde fruity cloth umbrella and leant it against the wall.

But back to what I do best.....
Cooking today: Something with ham, something with jam.

After the excesses of Easter we are off for along stroll. Probably to the woods.

Hello All!

Easter is here............ and so with my non-dairy 'chocolate' egg from ma and pa and a huge spiky patch of weeding to do I'll wish you all a very vegan and itchy Easter.

UPDATE...............

The profiteroles have turned out fantastic. Puffed, small and blobbed out with sweet vanilla cream then generously painted with dark choc icing. (It's taking all my willpower NOT to nick one):)

For tea tonight:
Steak and kidney puddings. I know I know, hot suet and meat on a steaming day is barmy but I love them so much;)
cabbage shredded
simple buttered boiled potatoes
a little English mustard

Pud:
Apple flan

In between cooking and drinking copious amounts of water I sowed some toms, parsley and basil.
I have to admit I'm a little zonked now so will rest my head on the arm of the kitchen armchair, whacked but content....
Baking as I type a dozen profiteroles which will later be filled with cream and drizzled with melted chocolate.
For us? No.... for the London Lovelies.

Also being made... two steak puds and a dozen Bakewell maids. The kitchen is a wee bit HOT! But with windows open and naked feet I'm doing alright:)

Southend was heaving with scantily clad people (nasty) and as I staggered back to the car park clinging onto two massive bags of compost I doubted my sanity. But alls well that ends well because I can now, over Easter, get some tomatoes growing:)
Also picked up a box of Rose food.
Bird food ditto.

My head was killing me so I popped into Boots for cheapo drugs and whilst there bought a lovely new lipstick called Rose Bud:)
Thump thump thump but oh the thought of puckering up rosily.

Now I must fly snooker and choux pastry waits for no nutter:)

Oh Just Tit Bits

Another gorgeous day...

...........I heard it through the grapevine that Tory right wingers have got the pip with Cammo...If this AV referendum goes the wrong way methinks knives will be out...Do hope so...But who is there on the Tory front bench who'd appeal to the masses?

.............I saw an interview with former Labour Home Secretarys John Reid and Alan Johnson. Reid got the gorgeous vote from moi, Johnson needs a few early nights..

............On American Idol the brat called Haley is still in it despite being on the three chairs of death twice. Constantly looking at herself on the tvs, constantly showing fake sadness when a fellow songbird bites it and constantly embarrasses when trying to do the diva thing......Jacob sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water" as if in a trance, his last three way note came from heaven I'm sure.

.........I just had a stroll around the garden and saw many weeds in a corner, I'm tempted to do the business but can't on account of my the snooker and embryonic headache.....

.........Still in a daze from watching "Britain's Got Talent". Had disgusting thoughts whilst oggling the Stephen Hall(53). Your moves were sheer rattlesnake baby. Accom?

............Did a bucket of laundry..............

Bird Lady

Pigeon alert..Loads all around the house (outside) on tables both proper and bodged up. A large wood pigeon has now appeared from behind the bin.
Female blackbird checking what's new.
Robin...just being cool.

Now I must fly..............
Must be something to do with the weather.

I've de-cluttered the front room and kitchen leaving things called SPACES. Not much in the way of bric-a-brac is left and have especially toned down on the flower front. Admission...I've put a standard lamp behind the armchair in the kitchen...
Both rooms are mere shadows of their former selves, bit like me really, I've toned it down a bit too. No more jangling necklaces or large bags, simplicity being the key word. Feels kind of cool too.

Keeping with the decision to clean up my act I smashed a few cobwebs and threw away tons of stuff, then hand washed a huge eiderdown which will, after a good airing be thrown over my cat mashed settee, the eiderdown isn't really an eiderdown more of a giant quilt really only without the stuffing. It's white and embroidered with flowers and will give a lift to the autumnal type decorations in the front room. I never say lounge.

What else? I made an apple flan, re-arranged garden furniture, placed ceramic cats amongst the weeds and re-located Buddha. The raspberry bushes are being held up by some pink wool and a 28 year old very distressed pine coffee table is on the back lawn waiting for visitors:)

An excellent morning.

Cooking tonight Sausage Risotto for one. (I'm giving my tummy a day off.)

Now I must fly>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Eclairs filled with coffee cream and topped with dark chocolate icing.

All You Need To Know

After watching The Sky At Night's 700th celebratory programme I have to get a large Notebook.
Patrick Moore's immaculate penned jottings and doodlings about all things astral had me chomping at the bit...Got to get a BIG Book I told Mr H. He was nonplussed. Not for star stuff I reassured him but for food stuff.
Therefore...Today with my buds whetted......I'll be kitchen bound....

surrounded by recipe books, bits of paper and baking tins. I will willingly submit to all things culinary, because that is where my heart lies.
My heart will also lay down with Football Focus and Snooker:) BBC1

Being cooked today:
A pizza, some chocolate eclairs (possible pic if they puff) and a fruity traybake. That's why I need a Large A4 notebook, spiral bound or solid makes not a jot of difference as long as there is plenty of room for musings and mistakes:)

Now I must fly>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Mr H. is popping out soon for men's stuff I wonder if my Large Papery Hints have done the trick:)

Dash I must.....

Friday, 15 April 2011

Quick Fire Post>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>On account of Mr H being in the building

Charity Shop.....Better late than never..........Served by tall Christian lad, quiet son of loud scary mother out back:(

1 cotton swirling ethnic style skirt in black red and white. African overtones. Aruba aruba.

1 blue and white striped saucer. For Monty. Love flicking his whiskers.

1 soft as butter cream sweater. Totally unsuitable for pasta sessions.

1 Tom Clancy novel for Mr H. Huge thing it is.

1 cute rolling pin :)

So that's where my money went....

Being cooked tonight with love and affection:
Meatballs in pestoed tomato sauce served on top of plenty of buttered penne. Crusty Garlic buppy. Grated Red Cheese.
For pud, Gingercake and Cornish Ice Cream. (A slice with the ice.)

Now I must fly>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Zombies.

A bit of a glurky day weather wise but I soldiered on regardless.

Briefly:
Meatballs have morphed in bolognaise. Patience is required for ball rolling. Me out of.
'The Walking Dead' freaked me out. Watching zombies mid-afternoon is so cool. And sheriff deputies in big hats on big neglected horses trotting through zombie laden cities is my kind of high. The bullets in head shots were particularly well executed.
Cameron's immigration speech had me laughing my socks off. Could his mere mention of the 'I' word agitate extreme parties. Big sigh....
Deep indentation under left eye has had me a) cursing b) moaning c) oiling it. Late nights and me don't mix.
I see 'Britain's Got Talent' is back. More dancing dogs? More 10 year old girls in long frocks singing Je ne regrette rien? :(

Now Bolog basting

The Boys in Blue and me in tears

Have just watched last night's MasterChef and am mopping up tears...So apologies in advance for bad syntax.

Our four hardy cooks made my little teatime efforts look like something a kid might rustle up. Their food for the the Duchess was breathtaking but it was their cream tea and sandwiches for retired fighter pilots and colleagues from World War Two at R.A.F. Northolt, which brought this bungalow down.

Every china cake stand filled with delicacies like coffee and walnut sponge cake, fruit tartlets, eccles cakes and cream and jam scones made me break into wartime song, the savouries were nice too...smoked salmon sandwiches, British beef sandwiches and egg and watercress, all so wonderfully light I could barely hold back claps of admiration. So I didn't. I clapped as the heavily medalled octogenarian men tucked in, feasting on all kinds of delicious stuff, everything went down a treat.

And afterwards, when the contestants met the Heroes and Heroines they looked genuinely in awe. I liked that.
Gentle aching claps from the former Fighters and Plotters must have been the best sound any of the amateur chefs have heard.
And as Dame Vera sang you know what to the closing pic of four disparate chefs walking into the sunset, I broke down.

It made me realize that cooking food whether a simple teatime treat or a three course late night special both can be the most wonderful enriching thing anyone can do.
Therfore this weekend I will put my foot down and soar...................

Also....
Michel Roux Snr made a guest appearance showing how a Croquembouche is made...So Our cooks had to make one too. All were terrified but needn't had worried because all their bouches were fine. (Sara's had a Leaning Pisa feel to it but she's Italian so)
I'll be fiddling with an icing bag this weekend too when I make some Chocolate Eclairs filled with cream. Choux pastry is fiddly but it is the lightest most unctious of all the pastries so well worth the trauma!

Today I'm making meatballs followed by cherry fairy cakes and cream...wonder if the boys in blue would like some.

Now I must fly.................

:)

Ho diddly doo I really am losing my marbles...completely forgot Spurs v. Madrid tonight.
So must dash Harry needs my support...........x

Menu Sir?

In my earlier post I forgot to gibber on about tonight's tea...Forgetting is a regular occurrence.

So....

Fat meaty toads-in-little-puffed-holes. Sausages sat on top of individual Yorkies
mashy tatty. A small amount of the creamed veg piled up then decorated with forky lines.
peasy. Canned Marrowfat. Green and Great when out of their shucks.
gravykins. Hot Oxo mixed with ketchup.

Little nutty choccie mocha puds. Baked in tiny tins with inbuilt coffee sauce
nilla ice cream. Cornish Cornish Cornish. Ben and Jerry Suck.

In a lady's diary...

Spent morning shopping for food.
Sainsbury's has a new fruit and veg lay out, I love it.
So much so that I succumbed to the fullness of a Savoy cabbage.
Chatted to till lady Veronica who enthused over my new carpetbag and chatted to general handyman Ian who just enthused. Mostly about his up coming day off.
I left smiling.
Drove home with half a tank of petrol and goodies in the boot.

Later...

Cooked a little dinner-time food for a chum and wiled away some hours talking about feet and parents.
Friends make light the heavy life stuff
Am therefore in a spectacularly good mood.

Looking ahead to the weekend am excited about making some Chocolate Eclairs:)
It's true I tell you;)

Tuesday, 12 April 2011

Sipping tea post

Man Utd v. Chelsea soon. Radio 5 Live. Hoping for a Blue kinda miracle.

Flowerpot on sill. Chrysanthemums yellow and bountiful.

Easter chocs giving me the nudge. No way Roseyo, my tooth must wait.

Honeyed Legs for tea.

:)

Short

This morning I listened to the first programme in a series about British Prime Ministers. (R4)

Today was wunderkind...William Pitt The Younger. (1759-1806)

15 minutes of Nick Robinson chatting to William Hague about Britain's youngest ever PM had me spitting feathers.

Pitt excellent.
Length of programmes pitiful. No pun intended.

Boo hoo....:(

Now I work..grrrr!

Size 10 and Chips please

It's been a smashing day weather wise, sunny warm and definitely not as cool as the weather people predicted, so thumbs up for inaccuracies...

I was holed up in the kitchen again this afternoon making food and reading about food and someone said that if one thinks about food one gets fat. Utter nonsense. I think about it a lot and can still force myself into size 10 jeans. So blow you.

Have found a new bunch of recipes to try mostly sweet of course but there are one or two savouries, just to balance it up.

The other day, can't remember when...I'd bought 150g of lean steak mince to make some hamburgers (not often called that nowadays) and instead of using burger buns I made a few poppy seeded soda rolls, they, that's the burgers were quite tiny but fit perfectly inside my wee odd shaped rolls. Plenty of Sainsbury's tomato relish was laden on top along with a fair amount of grated Wensleydale cheese. They were scrummy if queer...
There's something charming about mis-shapen food.

Today, that's this afternoon, I rustled up a 10 inch Dutch Apple Flan, so sweet and simple to make and so comforting with a big cuppa on the sofa or as a dessert on the table with ice cream, all in all a good egg.
For tonight I've plumped for the opening of a can of corned beef and will serve it thickly sliced with chips, eggs and ketchup. Monday is throwing it all together day.

MASTERCHEF
I watched in dismay last week the shoving orf of the fella with the jailhouse tats from Milton Keynes. Liked him and his talent and his growly get upstairs- kind -of -voice but knew it was curtains when he made two fruit and fish dishes for the guest judges...Three Food Critics. My dear bit of rough you don't experiment when cooking for the higher orders. Keep it plain keep it excellent. They, the judges were most disgusted by his strawberry tuna and so, quite frankly, was I.

Tim the mad Yank is still in it...Coffee Steak? Ok. Love the madness/genius of this guy. Could even win the whole caboodle.
Jackie is the pits, can't stand the histrionics of the vegetarian madam, and, even though she nearly lost two thumbs, and failed to finish in time for the judges, the wild eyed woman went through...
Sara the intensive care nurse is a dark Italian horse, food for kings with a simple Tuscan touch, like it.
Am looking forward to recording Wednesday's programme where they will cook for the Aristocracy. Duke and Duchess of Somewhere. Only hope Tim cools it a bit, the staid old duffers won't appreciate Braised Spiders in Gin Tim.

Now I slice and dice;)
What a to-do...
The sun is responsible for my skinny purse...
Thought I'd be a good girl and take yet another sandalled stroll to the shops (Co-Op and Charity).
Once inside the latter I found the most flattering pair of creamy trousers, not only did they fit yummily but are adorned with two cute back pocket buttons. As for the length department they fit beautifully, no need to wield a needle (rubbish at it anyway). So all looks good in the leg dept;
Then after saying a belated heart hello to all I bought a willo'the wisp blouse, champagne in colour and nothing but a mere delicate hanging of a top. I loved it. It was as they say, love at first sight. Total expenditure £4.

Then into the waiting room of death otherwise known as the Co-Op, where once inside its dismal environs I fell prey to the smell of veg, so bought a small frilly lettuce and a pair of pears.
Weaving my way around I stumbled upon an aisle of jars and so being in a slightly wild mood plopped into the big black basket a jar of black olives.
The sun made me do it.

Then I was collared by the offer of three 1 litre cartons of fruit juice for £2:50. Not bad methought but it wasn't just the monetary savings I would make it was my insatiable love for orange and mango fusion.

The lovely OLD lady on the till had violet eyes and grey hair so I rudely stared at the perfect colour combo as she bleeped my goodies. You were a gal once I thought and wondered how many boys had wept over the sweetness of her mince pies.

An excellent morning where I bagged a couple of gems, stocked up on essential groceries and pondered the garden....Poppies/tomatoes and a tin of white paint for my tiny picket fence.
So many activities for one girl;)

Now I must fly>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Friday, 8 April 2011

Felt wonderful walking in the sunshine this morning...
Then, as if that wasn't enough, I picked up a Burslem Black Cat Teapot in the charity shop...I carried it home (no car) as if it were real cat. Women don't get any more silly than I...
Anyway.....According to Ebay it's 'rare vintage'.
There's one up for sale so I shall keep my green eyes on it.
I'll post a pic as soon as I can.

After my heart settled I mowed the lawn then after chasing Monty around, I cut back some nameless shrub so my raspberry bush could feel the heat of a perfect day.

I'm now ravenous so will nibble like a minxy on a piece of cherry cake:)

No Time To Stuff A Mushroom so..

Fab day in London yesterday.
Dad in good form. Gambling, eating and feeding the kid cough medicine...
Mum got a big ok from foot doc. Possibly back to proper shoe quite soon.

An excellent weekend in the making. Yum food and generally letting go!

Today is lining up to be a corker too so won't hang around for long.
A little green fingered stuff
A little chicken
A skip to shop

My wants are few

Cheerio:)

Wednesday, 6 April 2011

After my earlier loved up post it's back down to earth baby!

So.... with two steak and kidney puddings steaming and, at 19:30 hrs for a whopping great two and a half hours.... a stunner of a game.. Man U. take on Chelsea.
Me?
I'm siding with the London club of course.

I LOVE FOOTBALL x

Another thing...

I'm off to London tomorrow with coconut cake, strawberry wafers and steak puddings in my bag...If the weather looks fine at nine I'll be wearing my short black leather jacket, white T shirt, old scruffed up jeans and red flowered shoes.
I love a nice day out x

Now I must fly...........:)

What A Strange Affair...

Life is.

One minute you're lost, submerged in the greyness of your civilisation, the next you're as free as the wild bird in the tree. From sensible to reckless, from black to white, from drowning in safety to climbing hills naked.
'Take the road less travelled'.

Becoming aware of your inadequacies makes the things you can do, more important. Realizing that the sparkling crown you think you wear is nothing but a shallow old halo and that for all its dullness is liked and knocked off by a special few.
Discovering that the love songs you warble by the stacked sink are screams borne out of a kind of love. The kind of childish love which mimes because it can't sing.

Being able, I think, to let go of a dream is what will keep you sane. Clinging to it will break your back and heart. I had a dream and then was shot.

Life is there for the taking but only for the brave. So when your path is miraculously cleared don't bag and sell the rubble, kick off your boots and score the turf...

Yawn Rooney

I've just seen Wayne Rooney mouthing obscenities after scoring a goal.

This latest embarrassing episode in the Wayne Rooney Book of Silly Games defies belief, there he is, a rich talented man doing what he loves at the best, most vigorous time of his life and what does he do.... spouts vitriol into the dignified silent face of a camera.

Maybe there are underlying issues, possibly concerning the mismanagement of his marriage, whatever ails him though should not give him leeway to hurtle unnecessary expletives at a proper working man.

I've never been fully on board S.S. Rooney on account of his steaming, bullying and sometimes questionable antics both on and off the pitch. In other words he's a brainless bruiser who, without the gift of being able to knock a ball about, would probably have spent his life impregnating girls and sitting on walls drinking.

But luckily for England fans we have the star in our midst ready to cut a bloody swathe in Wembley's dirt and, providing he isn't feeling overwrought, over snapped or overheard, we'll see him score a nice goal or two.

Bit of advice...Sssh and let your feet do the talking...

Glo's Place

The word must be out on the street that a mixture of general bird food and mealworms is available at Glo's Bungalow...The tiniest table of the nest of tables I recently put out is currently supporting two crazed pigeons and, in the wings on the guttering, a sideshow of pretty waiting sparrows...
Makes the madness of engaging drawing room furniture in the upkeep of wild animals seem right and proper:)

Ok... stuff to do today..... the blasting of grime from the kitchen window, that's the downside of sunshine, it shows up every neglected pane of glass. But, just as I did yesterday when chatting to New Boy Andy, I'll hop on board my trusty old chair and tackle the prob with sneezy gusto.
Yes, this cold of mine is hanging on.... But being a bit short on sense I'll do it anyway:)

Too many other tasks to list but suffice to say I'll swirl through them drippingly:)

I've just introduced myself to my new neighbour Andy,by standing on a chair and tipping over the 6ft fence, Ihaven't met his family yet but as new neighbours go he's not at al bad. If you know what I mean.
He asked if his cable, which was slung about and over the shared fence was getting in my way, I replied in the negative...Don't want to get on the wrong side of the gorgeous beast:)
We chatted for all of three minutes, mostly about birds and their feeding whims.
I love him already.

My away day to the seaside was most pleasant.

Fine Spring weather. Not cold, not hot, and just breezy enough to swirl me skirt.
Looked at all the funny people whilst taking a break on a bench by the sea whilst keeping my energy level to the MAX by drinking Lucozade form the bottle.
Then, on the way to the shops, a Chicken McSandwich and Fab Fries...

Here's what I bought.
Picket fencing £2:98
Flower seeds (Poppy) 99p
1kg Wild Bird food £1:99
1ltr Heinz 'Worcestershire' sauce 99p
3 small stainless steel 'Indian' basins. (ideal for individual puddings)
Lilac hanging bird feeder adorned with blue butterfly £1
Icing bag with extra bits £1:29
Mealworms 99p

And so....after admiring the tremendous new traffic lay-out by Southend Vic station we drove home...And as Southend United were playing, a section house of fit Constables were loitering outside Roots Hall with no nefarious intentions...Although that could have changed if they'd been wise enough to arrest me for making lewd handcuff gestures from my open window as my vehicle approached a controlled junction.
Yummy!

Home to tea and playing with my stuff.
The picket fencing will be painted white. I think.
The Poppy seeds broadcast hither and yon.
Indian basins probably used in the making of Sticky Toffee puddings.
Hanging feeder? Not sure yet where to dangle it.
Icing bag for, of course, icing, but naturellement, for the making of Swiss Cakes where the buttery mixture needs to be piped instead of sploshed about.

Didn't feel like cooking tonight so indulged in a Chinese Take-Away:)
So all in all a decent old day:)
In a bit I'll be dragging my damp nose into town to share my nasty germs with the good folk of Southend.
After all, it's not every day Mr Horsehound offers a hot trip to the 99p shop.
Possible lunch too...:)

He's spoiling the old gril.
