To A Seagull.

Eye to eye I fell for you
no sense in love at all
Could we, that's us, that's you and me
live on rocks and on the sea?

Breast to breast I fell on you
no sense in love at all
Could we, that's us, just you and me
swagger on cobalt waves all day?

Head to head I fell for you
no sense in love at all
Could we, that's us, that's you and me
strut our feathers along the parade?

You with your swank, your arrogance and prance
peck out my heart, my beater
and me, like a mad woman, dips in the chair
You show-off, you bragger, you bully.

And then after you'd feasted
you left me
sweeping up malty tear-sodden crumbs
But eye to eye I'd fallen for you
no sense in love at all
Could we, that's us, that's you and me
live on rocks and by the sea?

"No sense in love at all". Irving Berlin should have written a song with that title. I let the words run around my head as I strolled around the garden looking at my Jacques Amand bulbs growing. As I showered, as I ate breakfast.
No sense in love at all so why bother? No sense in love at all but we still do it. Because love is the sweetest thing. Now that IS a good song title!!!

Thanks Nof (No 1 Fan) for your comment.
I nearly fainted at the thought of my simple words being used in the same sentence as 'Irving Berlin'. You've made my day in a major way.
I'm also quivering at the idea of my words accompanying you on a Sunday morning as you do the ordinary things.

I don't have any of Jacques bulbs, my ones come from Wilko's:)

And yes Love is The Sweetest Thing.
