Life goes quiet
when meagre heartbeats stop
their familiar thud,
the reminder that life is o.k.
dull,
so-so,
is suddenly lost
Life goes still
when covered limbs are severed
their familiar reliable strength,
a reminder that life is movement,
is suddenly lame
BUT
Life goes hot and nuclear
when passions impossibly magnify
their zoom and boom,
give thrust to our engines,
and suddenly we're fired
Life becomes noisy
when hearts beat senseless
their unfamiliar peal,
a blitz on our senses,
and suddenly we fathom love
